Wednesday the 6th of March at 6:15pm we will be doing a movie night watching “Secrets of the Surface: The Mathematical Vision of Maryam Mirzakhani”. In case you didn’t know: Mirzakhani was the first female Fields Medalist. The event will take place in room 2.025 in the Computer Science Institute. There will be drinks at cost price and free popcorn! We will start the movie once everyone has gotten popcorn and drinks. This is an event for the occasion of the International Women* in Maths Day which is on the 12th of May. There is a talk and a pubquiz organised by the HCM for the same occasion right before our movie night. The next Math Ball is finally just around the corner. Doors open at 6:15 PM, and at 6:30 PM there will be a dance class for anyone with little to no dance experience. There will be dance buddies—advanced dancers you can ask to dance with or learn new steps . You can get tickets in our office during AWD. Wear what makes you feel comfortable; evening wear is a good choice. Was heißt es, männlich zu sein und wie beeinflusst es dich, deine Mitstudierenden und deine Mathematik? Was können oder sollten wir ändern und wie wäre die Veränderung umzusetzen. Brauchen wir ganz neue Konzepte? Wir beginnen eine neue Event-Reihe, die für alle Studierende offen ist und sich besonders an männliche (sozialisierte) Studierende richtet, die sich Fragen über Männlichkeit stellen und/oder daran interessiert sind, eine bessere Atmosphäre um sich herum zu schaffen. Unser kick-off Treffen am 18. Mai wird sich vor allem darum drehen, zu diskutieren, wie diese Treffen organisiert werden sollten, und welche Themen für uns besonders relevant sind.
